Story Mania!!!

2011年04月04日 Posted by Nicky

I’m amazed at how much our kids love reading their stories!!

Some of the kids bring in several stories a week, that they have listened to and memorised at home.

I’ve been so impressed at  how well they can learn these stories…and how fast!

And it’s great for the kids – they get to feel a real sense of achievement!!

After successfully reciting a story, they get a big gold sticker for their recitation checksheet – the kids are always super proud of these and are thrilled to receive them! They feel like superstars!!

We LOVE Reading!!

Lovey-Dovey Treats for Valentines!!

2011年03月07日 Posted by Nicky

Last month was the Month of Love at English Now, with Valentines Day on February 14th.

We got into the spirit by preparing Valentines-themed snacks!

In Mommy and Me, we made cute little heart-shaped pancakes.

To bring some color (and extra flavor!) to the snack, Mommies and Kiddies together put a spoonful of chopped strawberries on top their pancakes. This also gave our awesome Mommies a chance to practise giving instructions in English: “Let’s get some strawberries!”

In pre-school, the kids got a chance to exercise their cooking skills by making Ambrosia, a popular Australasian dessert.

The kids asked for each of the ingredients…
“Yoghurt, please.”
“Marshmallows, please” (“One heart and one star.”)
“Strawberries, please.”
…and then had fun mixing them all together!

We had a lot of fun making Valentines Snacks with our kids and Moms in February – and I’m sure they had even more fun eating them!!

Is Your House Yummy?!

2011年02月23日 Posted by Nicky

At English Now, we love using food in our lessons – because everyone loves snacks!

The past couple of months, we have been learning about the different parts of a house, as well as what’s inside the house, so in preschool, we made a house…and then ate it!

With a little help from the teachers, students built a cute little house using crackers and a little bit of chocolate.

The kids used the English they had learned this theme well, to ask for their “building tools”:

“Walls, please.”
“Roof, please.”
“Door, please.”

And then they arranged their houses with great care…

They were delighted with their cute houses and proudly showed them to the class – and, of course, they were just as happy about eating their houses!!

Great job, team!! I wonder what we’ll be making for snack time next month….

遊びの天才

2011年02月19日 Posted by Yuka

Next!” “G…G…G…” “R…R…R…” “Triangle!”

と、それぞれつぶやきながら、みごとにTRIANGLEの文字を見つけていきます。

子供って遊びの天才ですね!!
