It’s already March!!! Can you believe it? It’s a new year and we’re learning new things every day!

But we wanted to share with you some of our memories from our 2011 Christmas Party here at English Now, Myogadani!

With everyone dressed in their best, we all had a lot of fun singing Christmas songs together.

Which made us hungry! So we then had a yummy Christmassy snack:

Of course, the kids (and the mummies and daddies!) used English to get their snacks, thank the teachers, and ask for the trash bag after they had eaten.

We also made a cute Christmas tree decoration. It was a fun challenge for the kids, who used more English to ask us for help.

Then it was time for everyone’s favorite part of Christmas – PRESENTS!!!!

As well as exchanging gifts amongst themselves, the kids also got treats from a very special visitor:

SANTA CLAUS!!!

It was a very fun day for all of the kids, parents and, of course, us teachers!!! It was great to hang out with you all.

See you again this December!!

“Like Mother, Like Daughter” –> this is a common expression in English. It means that a daughter will be like her mother. So if the mother smiles a lot, so will the daughter!

We are hoping to make this expression true when it comes to using English, too!

For a long time, our English Now kids have been memorising and reciting stories – and doing a fantastic job with this!

Now, we’re also giving moms and dads an opportunity to learn with their kids – parents can recite stories too!

Recently, both Hanayo and her mummy recited the story, “Buttons, Buttons”! Mom read the story first (perfectly!) and then Hanayo followed her Mommy’s example by reciting it perfectly as well!

Well done, Hanayo and Hanayo’s Mommy!

Mahiro and Yuta’s Mommy also set a great example for her two sons by reciting two stories!! The boys were very proud of their Mom!

We hope you’ll be inpsired to try this too, all Moms and Dads of English Now kids!

突然ですが、、、何かを達成した時の喜びって大人になっても必要ですし、すごく嬉しいものですよね？
“I did it!” 「できた！」という達成感は、子供たちの可能性と力さらに引き伸ばしてくれるんだな。。。と、日々のレッスンの中で何度も気付かされます。
最近のAfterschoolで印象的だったのが、24冊の絵本暗唱を成し遂げる力。
こちらのキラキラ笑顔の光る二人は、何度も何度もチャレンジして、最近見事に24冊暗唱を成し遂げました！！
　　　　　　　　　　　　
最後の24冊目の絵本がとても難しく苦戦したD君。途中であきらめたり投げ出したりせず、半年間一生懸命頑張ったそのチャレンジ精神に、とても強い感銘を受けました。
「どんなことでも自分を信じて努力すれば必ず達成できる！」ということを、逆に教える側の私たちが教えてもらいました。　　おめでとう！＆ありがとう！

茗荷谷校でも、親子一緒にレッスンを楽しもう！”A Fun Day with Mom & Dad！”
というイベントを開催しました！

お父さんもお母さんも、子供たちの日ごろの頑張りを実際に目で見て耳で聞いて、
びっくり！！！
「こんなに話せるようになっていたなんて、理解できているなんて。。。」というお声を多数いただきました☆
特にみなさんが驚いていたのが、4月より始まった自己紹介をするパート。
今回は4・5月に練習した、name, age, birthday, place you liveの４つのセンテンスを、
お父さんお母さんに質問してもらい、みんなの前で発表しました。

子供たちは、自分の紹介文だけでなく、何について質問されているのかもちゃんと理解しています！私自身、子供たちが自信を持って自分のことについて答えている姿に感動し、２ヶ月間こんなに頑張ったのだなぁ。。。と、若干うるうるしてしまいました。
みんなー！これからもっともっと、自分のことについて言えるセンテンスを増やしていこうね！
そして、お父さんとお母さんをさらに驚かしちゃおう！！

イベントの最後には、お父さんお母さんへ日ごろの感謝をこめて、Thank you カードをプレゼントしました。Andrewによく似た郵便屋さんが、カードを届けてくれました☆

先週アフタースクールで、二度目の自己紹介の発表会を無事終えることができました！

今回の発表会では、子供達に、’How tall are you?’ (あなたの身長は？) 、’What color are your eyes?’ (あなたの目の色は？) 、’What’s your hair like?’ (あなたの髪のスタイルや色は？) 、’Are you left handed or right handed?’　(あなたは左利きですか、右利きですか？) というような質問に答えてもらいました。

私は子供達全員の発表にとても感動しました。特にA君、R君やSちゃんは非常に自信をもって、積極的に発表してくれました。

子供達は発表後、’good job’ sticker’ をもらい、みんなハッピーo(^▽^)o

今月から新しいテーマ ‘feelings and emotions’（気持の表現の仕方）に入りました。
