Faces Faces!

Posted by Peter

This month at English now we have been talking about different feelings so we decided to make 3 faces. A happy face, a sad face and an angry face. Everyone was working really hard to make the different faces by themselves.

             ”Look I’m making faces.”

“Me too!”

We even practiced the different feelings.

“I’m angry.”

“I’m happy.”

CIMG6851

“This is my happy face!”

After we made our faces we played a game putting the happy faces in the happy box, the sad in the sad box and angry in the angry box. We all had a lot of fun!

“Wait… this one is an angry face!”

Let’s keep playing with your faces at home!!

We love animals!

 eency weency1

eency weency 3

eency weency 2

Old MacDonald Had a Farm(ゆかいな牧場)の歌です♪

chick (ひよこ)、duck(あひる)、cow(牛)、turkey(七面鳥)の4種類が登場。

Play TimeやLunch Timeなど、

Carp Banner Making!

Posted by Chris

This week in Pre-school we have been making carp banners, ready for Children’s Day on May 5th.

We made it using three different colored fish; a green one, a yellow one and a red one. The kids did a great job asking for a “red fish please”, a “yellow fish please” and a “green fish please.”

Next we stuck some pom poms on the fish using tape. The kids really loved the pom poms and had a great time saying “peel” the tape and “stick” the pom pom, “peel” the tape and “stick” the pom pom.

Finally we stuck all the fish to a straw. This was a little tricky, but the kids helped the teachers “push”, “push”, “push” the fish onto the straw.

Then we had fun waving our carp banners! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Have a great Children’s Day and enjoy the rest of your golden week! See you all in May!

Graduation Day 2013

Posted by Chris

Last Saturday we had our graduation day to say goodbye and congratulations to those kids changing from pre-school to after-school and after-school to graders. This year we had a special programme with pre-school and after-school kids together.

The day started by showing the mummies and daddies our English Now house and where everything in the house goes.

It's in the bedroom, it's in the bedroom, it's in the bedroom.'

It’s in the bedroom, it’s in the bedroom, it’s in the bedroom.’

After that we sang some of our favourite songs ’Rock around the Mulberry Bush’ and ‘Skidamirink’. The kids did a super job teaching their parents the songs and all of the dance moves!!

'I love you'

‘I love you’

When it came to self introduction and story reading time everyone did a fantastic job at reciting. All of the pre-school children challenged to say ‘my name is…’ on the stage and everyone wanted to read ‘I see colors’.

'I see red'

‘I see red’

I had never heard S-chan read ‘I see colors’ before, so was really surprised at her great reading! Her mum explained they had been practicing a lot at home, so thank you Mum! I’d also never heard A-chan speak as loud as she did when she said ‘I SEE BLUE’. All the teachers and parents were so impressed with her big voice! Well done.

We ended the day with everyone making a graduation hat (with the help of Mum and Dad!).  Everyone looked so cute wearing them and it was a really nice moment when the parents gave their child their graduation certificate.

'Congratulations! Good luck in After-school!'

‘Congratulations! Good luck in After-school!’

Thank you everyone for coming and for making it such a fun day! I’m really going to miss all of you moving from pre-school to after school. Thank you for making the morning so fun for me and good luck in the afternoon. For those of you moving to graders I can’t wait to start teaching you from April !!!

I see Shapes

Posted by Chris

At the moment we are reading `I see shapes` in class. Last month, to help the children understand the meaning of the story we were acting out the pages from the book. James and Sakae were hiding behind a table showing the shapes and then revealing what they really are, while I said the lines from the book.

“I see rectangles. Now I see a cake. Happy Birthday!”

All of the children were watching so carefully. I can tell because last time A-Chan said “I see triangles” (the first line of the book) before I could even speak! Everyone was so surprised and really proud that she knew the story so well! I think she will definitely be able to do a recital soon!

And it’s not just A-chan who seems to know the book well. Lots of the children like to read along with me  and they all love to call out the different shapes.

So if you have time, please try and listen to this story with your kids at home. I hope lots of kids(and mums) will try recitals this month.
