I see Shapes

2013年01月11日 Posted by Chris

At the moment we are reading `I see shapes` in class. Last month, to help the children understand the meaning of the story we were acting out the pages from the book. James and Sakae were hiding behind a table showing the shapes and then revealing what they really are, while I said the lines from the book.

“I see rectangles. Now I see a cake. Happy Birthday!”

All of the children were watching so carefully. I can tell because last time A-Chan said “I see triangles” (the first line of the book) before I could even speak! Everyone was so surprised and really proud that she knew the story so well! I think she will definitely be able to do a recital soon!

And it’s not just A-chan who seems to know the book well. Lots of the children like to read along with me  and they all love to call out the different shapes.

So if you have time, please try and listen to this story with your kids at home. I hope lots of kids(and mums) will try recitals this month.

Christmas Craft

Chris

The last week of 2012 we were busy making Christmas cards for Mum and Dad.

The children asked for ‘cards please’. Then a ‘Christmas tree please’, ‘a star please’ (which had their photos on it) and lastly, stickers and crayons to decorate. They all had fun sticking the different pieces on their cards and I was really impressed with their own original designs.

I particularly liked T-kun’s imaginative lay out. As you can see I think he gets 10 out of 10 for originality!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a very Happy New Year! I’ve been missing all of the children over the long break so I’m looking forward to seeing you all at school next week!

Preschool CD Listening

2012年12月21日 Posted by risa

Have a nice holiday!!

Jingle Bells

Peter

Because it is nearly Christmas, this month we have been singing a very popular Christmas song, Jingle Bells. Everyone has been very very very good this year so we were very lucky to be visited early by some reindeer who brought some bells for us to use!

A big and baby reindeer!

The reindeer joins in the singing.

We then all enjoyed singing the song together shaking our bells!

“Jingle bells, jingle bells……”

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year. See you next year everyone!!!!

Let’s make words!

2012年11月29日 Posted by Peter

This month after lunch we have been playing ‘let’s make words’ and making words from the story ‘The Bear Went Over The Mountain’. Everyone has had so much fun matching the letters and making their own words.

 Let’s make words together

“I did it!”

They are so proud of themselves and want to show us the words they made!

“I made bear!”

They didn’t stop at just making the word bear, but wanted to continue with other words too.

“And I made forest!”

It was great to see our kids enjoying making their own words by themselves and wanting to show off their work.

Well done guys!!!
