Dress-up, again???

2012年12月13日 Posted by Peter

Again this week in class we are playing dress ups, but a little bit different than last month. We are using small cut-out dolls (with our faces attached for fun), and using these doll to dress up in a variety of clothes for different types of weather. We have already learnt various vocabulary used with the key sentence ‘I wear a *** on a *** day’, and after last months dress-up game the kids are getting quite good in using this phase. The kids are broken into smaller groups to freely prepare the doll, but this time, they choose the weather. Kids find something suitable for the weather they choose and say, for example, ‘I wear a raincoat on a rainy day.’ Don’t ask…..I don’t know why there are two dolls of me.

Pre-school activities

Today , one of our preschool students did a super job in participating to the activities.  During the word sentence reading he was repeating every word  and phrase with enthusiasm.   In the after lunch activities,  we played a game  in which students had to match a word on a card with another card with the same word.  He was very quick and had no difficulties.  In story listening time, he was very focused in listening to the CD and repeating the sentences aloud.  In the end, he did a recital of the story “I See Colors”.   I was very impressed at how he showed no difficulties in reciting the story.  He seemed relaxed and confident. …..NEL GULMATICO

A successful first week!!

Hey everyone!

So my first week is over and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot!  Kiyosumi kids are SUPER CUTE and so clever!!  They can do so much I don’t know what to write about first!!  They can spell words, they can sing chants and songs!  They can talk about transportation AND they can read stories!!

This week we had lots of our preschoolers reciting their books!  For some of the students it was their first time so I felt really lucky to be here for their first books!  One student T -Chan came twice this week and recited two books which is just AMAZING!!  I felt so proud and happy for her when she recited the story in a big voice at the front of the class and for her mum!  I think you did a WONDERFUL job T-Chan!

Everyone let’s keep reading all together and thank you for making my first week here with you all so special!!

Check out these pics of  T-Chan reciting!

WHERE DO MONSTERS LIVE?

Hello Everyone!

2012年11月06日 Posted by Mhairi

Hello

Hi everyone, my name is Mhairi and I’m the new teacher from Mejiro School!  I’ve been working at English now for more than 2 years and I love it!  All the children are so cute and I really enjoy watching them grow and talking in English together.

I have been in Japan since 2007 and I live in Shin Urayasu which is next to Disneyland!  I really like to cook and so I’m trying to learn about Japanese cooking so if you have any tips for me I’d love to hear them.

I am very good friends with Sarah – our families are friends in London so we knew eachother before English now and she told me so many fun stories about kiyosumi school so I am really excited to meet all the students and start having fun together in English soon.

Thank you to all the mums and students I already met for making me feel so welcome!  And thanks to Chiho, Ree, Nozomi, Nel, Wes, Yuzo and Asako for making my days at Kiyosumi so much fun!

Creative Speaking – What do you wear on a rainy day?

2012年10月18日 Posted by Peter

This week at school we are playing dress ups, but for a good reason!!! A while ago we had learnt various vocabulary used with the key sentence ‘I wear a *** on a *** day’. The kids complete in a relay race, starting with everybody asking ‘How’s the weather today?’. I get to choose what kind weather it is (something that we learnt a couple of months ago). From there the kids find something suitable for the days weather and say, for example, ‘I wear a raincoat on a rainy day.’ A lot of fun to see everyone dressing up in some funny gear. This photo is of Tomoya with his bunny rabbit woolen hat.
